COVID isn’t real, says LA Lewis - Leads Maroon group in protest against mask wearing
Dancehall artiste LA Lewis, who has been the secretary of state and paramount chief of the Nyan-Ko-Pong Maroons for the past four years, led a peaceful demonstration in St Catherine recently against the mandatory wearing of masks.
"The mask cannot stop a virus should an airborne virus come around. Jamaica is one of the hottest countries, so if COVID cannot survive in heat, then it cannot survive here. We have searched all around the country and we are yet to know anyone with this virus," he said.
Even though the virus claimed the lives of popular figures such as musician Toots Hibberts and politician Dr D.K. Duncan, LA Lewis remains adamant that the virus is nothing but a hoax.
"Trump have corona which is a flu and not the COVID-19 that they are talking about. Every breathing thing can get corona because even goat sneeze, which shows that animals can contract a cold or flu," he said.
LA Lewis said he is unbothered by persons who deemed him irresponsible for refusing to wear a mask and encouraging others to do the same.
"We are no way irresponsible because COVID isn't real. Corona is real because it is a flu, but COVID is a hoax," he said.
Another Nyan-Ko-Pong official, Chief Courtney, said the wearing of masks is damaging to people's health.
"We intake oxygen and breathe out carbon monoxide. So when we have a mask on our face and breathing out carbon monoxide which is bad for our intake, we are damaging our kidney and other organs. This would mean that we are putting back toxins in our body and that would weaken our immune system making us unable to fight off any disease or virus. So even the common flu virus will become an issue," he said.
"There are at least 13 different types of flu and when your immune system is weak, if you catch it, it could cause death. So wearing the mask is not something that I would recommend for anyone especially our people," he added.
Chief Courtney stated that although persons are wearing masks daily and practising social distancing, there are still large daily increases in positive cases.
"If you should ask those in authority if wearing the mask prevents us from catching the virus, they will tell you no. So why wear it when there are no benefits from it?" he said.
According to LA Lewis and Chief Courtney, the Nyan-Ko-Pong Maroons have been in existence for hundreds of years, but were showing the world that they have risen up once again.
"So anywhere in the world you are, you can now get your maroon identification card, birth paper and other documents. So far, 286,000 persons have already signed up in recent times to get their documents. One of my job is to put myself on the line without even thinking twice and make sure say money is spent accordingly and things are just in place for the people," said LA Lewis.
He said the Nyan-Ko-Pong Maroons are based across the world, especially in sections of Africa and the United Kingdom. But he said their main Jamaican centre is on Constant Spring Road.
LA Lewis told THE STAR that he was selected for the key positions by other members, not only because of his social media presence, but because he was always spreading the Maroons' message wherever he goes.
"There is no one else in Jamaica that persons know more than LA Lewis. Who else have more links with all of the political leaders locally and internationally such as Donald Trump and the Queen of England?" he said.
