COVID travel ban grounds Jus Chris’ family in the UK - Hoped to see son, cousins for Christmas
Dancehall entertainer Jus Chris had crossed his fingers anticipating that his 13-year-old son, who resides in England, could make it to Jamaica in time for the holidays.
However, with a new variant of the novel coronavirus appearing, the Jamaican government quickly placed a ban on all flights coming into the island from the UK for two weeks.
Jus Chris, given name Christopher Lloyd, said he was also expecting to see a few other cousins who are based in the UK.
"Two sons are in the UK while my other three children reside in Jamaica. The youngest, my nine-year-old son, lives with me," the entertainer told THE WEEKEND STAR.
Jus Chris, known formerly as Baby Chris of the dancehall trio L.O.C., which made headlines with the single Ring Ding Ding in 2005, said that he was heartbroken, especially as he has been dealing with tragedy.
He said, "Inna one go, me lose mi big brother Sean and then mi babymother!" Recently, he was also informed that a family friend in the UK, who was ailing for some time, had also passed.
"My brother developed bronchitis and pneumonia and died on September 20. My babymother, Sherane Morgan, had suffered from kidney failure a month later. She was in the UK too but her body came to Jamaica and we had the burial some time ago. She is the mother of my 18-year-old son," he said. "The body of my friend was to be sent to Jamaica and some of her relatives would fly down for the burial. That not happening now because of the whole madness going on there." Jus Chris is staying strong for his sons who are grounded in the UK.
"As I say in my song, God Alone (which serves as a tribute to his brother), " only God alone can help we and protect us". That song keep me up because it is a testament that I have the Almighty on my side," he said.
Jus Chris lived in the UK for almost two decades before returning to Jamaica to further his career as a solo recording artiste.
"L.O.C. parted ways because of life circumstances. I'm not even sure if the other members doing music. We got the hit song by chance back then ... it was done for fun," he shared.
He has had success with other tracks like What Did I Do (To Deserve A Girl Like You) and is currently dedicated to building a new catalogue of songs, working with the likes of Beenie Man, Iyara and Fambo.
