Having copped her first spot on the local YouTube trending charts with her latest single, Waistline, entertainer Tallup believes she has found the hit that will catapult her even further into the musical spotlight.

"The reactions I have been getting so far have been great. People are really loving this song. I have dropped tracks before that made an impact but not like this," she told THE STAR.

Since its release three days ago, the track has racked up close to 80,000 views and is currently number 23 on the YouTube trending list.

"The song is not only trending on YouTube but it's causing a buzz on TikTok, Twitter, IG (Instagram), and all other social media platforms. I feel so proud of myself. Thank God, mi getting the recognition me deserve finally because a years mi a work for it," she said. "My #waistlinewarriors really help me to make this impact and I am so grateful for their support. Dem make the song a go places."

Tallup says she believes the track's success is a result of the outstanding visuals she and her team crafted. She drew inspiration from the late Michael Jackson, specifically his famous Remember The Time video.

"The beat has this African thing to it so it pushed me to go back to my roots and I thought, what other concept could I use but the Michael Jackson iconic video with Eddie Murphy?" she said. "That is one of my favourite songs and video from the legend plus it had one of my favourite actors in it. I loved everything about that video and so when I got the opportunity to recreate it, I did just that and people are really loving the creativity." A number of viewers on YouTube applauded the singer for deviating from the norm when it comes to local visual productions.

"I would like to give thanks to all of my dancers including my cousin, Dyema Attitude, and my sisters, DHQ Danger and Teja Christie. They all played a role in making the song and video a hit," she said. Tallup says she is getting ready to release more singles, and is already drumming up Waistline Part 2.
