June 25, 2021

Fast-rising dancehall artiste Rytikal is sitting comfortably in the top spot on the local YouTube trending charts for a third straight week.

Having amassed close to 2.5 million views in under a month, his latest single Chosen has been dubbed by many as a track that will dominate the airwaves for years.

The artiste's manager Shay Newman told THE WEEKEND STAR that his team knew from the single's inception that it was special.

"With the traction that it has received so far, coupled with the feedback that we've received from his supporters, we're confident that the song will be one of those dancehall classics," Newman said. "He is talented, humble, and works hard. His potential in the industry is limitless."

The track has been receiving rave reviews from listeners on YouTube, who praised the artiste for his lyrical potency. Some have even compared him to the likes of Vybz Kartel and Alkaline. The song has also received tremendous support from colleagues in the entertainment fraternity, including Devin Di Dakta, and Grammy Award-winning producer Teflon Zincfence. Newman said the song's relatability has helped to make it popular.

"It's real and it's raw. People who have struggled with adversity resonate with the song a lot because sometimes we need to remember that no matter what we're going through, we're here for a reason and we can always choose to have hope. People needed to hear that," he said. "Making music is about expressing yourself authentically while having fun and being creative. Rytikal is focused on creating from that place and once he continues to love what he does and work hard at it, he'll definitely keep making an impact."

Newman added, "It's a great feeling to know that you can have fun with lyrics on some tracks and share what's in your heart in others. People are open to both. To share a melody and message that's inspired from Rytikal's story that could also uplift anyone who listens, it's safe to say that our goal was accomplished."
