Dream Weekend debuts in New York
Managing director of Dream Entertainment, Scott Dunn, and his team are currently in New York where "the Caribbean's largest party experience" is scheduled to make its grand debut this weekend.
The Brooklyn Hangar is the venue of choice for Dream's first staging in the Big Apple and the three-day party kicks off this Friday, August 27.
"We are getting ready for a great weekend here in New York, tickets have been moving fast and we are looking for a great weekend," Dunn told THE WEEKEND STAR.
Day 1 is presented as Dream Live: All Black and will see live performances from Dancehall Queen Spice and Serani.
Day 2, on Saturday will showcase Dream All White with Bunji Garlin, Chi Ching Ching and Ajji. World Dance Rep Your Flag brings the curtains down on Sunday, and featured artistes are Afro B, Nailah Blackman and Capella, with music from Stone Love, Young Chow, Entourage and Kidd and Sal Infrared.
ALLIANCE FORMED WITH HEALTH DEPARTMENT
In acknowledgement of the pandemic that is still raging, the organisers have formed an alliance with the city's health department.
"We've partnered with the Department of Health New York City to offer free vaccinations all weekend at our Dream Weekend redemption centre at our venue Brooklyn Hangar," Dunn disclosed.
Carlos Philpotts, marketing director of Dream Entertainment, was excited that early-bird tickets were almost sold out, and expressed his gratitude to supporters, noting that there has been tremendous support from the Caribbean community in New York.
"We are expecting an amazing turnout and patrons can expect only the best from us, in terms of safety, entertainment, bar and bottle services as well as catering. Dream plans to make a lasting impression in the NYC. We have amazing plans as Dream takes on public events once again; our outlook and our objectives are going to be different but nonetheless exciting and entertaining, possibly revolutionary!" Philpotts said in a release.
Dream Weekend, an annual weeklong getaway held in Negril, was last staged August 5-9 along the resort town's beach strip. It has been labelled a COVID-19 super spreader by doctors and social commentators who argue that the event has contributed to the spoke in coronavirus cases in western Jamaica.
