Chuck Fenda ‘feels good’ to be a married man
Reggae singer Leshorn 'Chuck Fenda' Whitehead is now a happily married man, having tied the knot with the woman of his dreams, Abigail, last Saturday in East Orange, New Jersey, USA. And he is "feeling good" about finally taking the big step.
Pictures of the newlyweds popped up on both their social media pages on Sunday, surprising their followers who didn't have a clue that a wedding was in the making.
Chuck Fenda, in paying tribute to his wife, posted, "Six years together with two beautiful children, it wasn't an easy road, but we stick together through thick and thin, love this beautiful woman dearly... cheers to a new beginning."
In an interview with THE STAR from the US, where they are both vacationing, the couple said that although the wedding was planned in a few weeks, it was a long time coming.
"My wife is from a Christian family and she would always say to me that us living together and having children outside of marriage is not ideal and that her grandmother and her father asked her about it. I knew I wanted to do it but it was just the time. I feel good to finally get married. I have to continue being straightforward, loyal and honest, with my wife," said Chuck Fenda, who is a father of four.
When Abigail went to visit her sister in the US recently, Chuck Fenda decided to join her and make the most of the time by putting a ring on her finger.
"I am a US citizen as I was born up here and have a lot of family here. But I haven't been in the US for about three years, so a visit was long overdue. And the time was just right. My brother was at the wedding and other family, and it was all good," the groom said.
The happy bride, who has been orchestrating Chuck Fenda's career behind the scenes, told THE STAR that although the wedding wasn't as big as she wanted, "honestly, it felt like it was a big wedding. It felt a little like a fairy-tale".
"My older sister, Patricia Simpson, who lives up here, played a major role in getting me prepared. And also my other sister, Kemisha Walters, who lives in Canada, they both chose my wedding dress. Kemisha told me that she wasn't going to make it and then she surprised me by showing up," she added.
A traditional white lace gown, the dress had a daring thigh-high split, which the beautiful bride wore to perfection. A day with many treasured memories, one of the most special for Abigail, was when she saw her husband actually cry.
"I said to myself, 'Oh goodness, he's going to make me cry and ruin my make-up.' And before I knew it, we were both crying," she said with a laugh.
