Kyng Tavii is living proof that when one door closes, another opens.

The popular comedian is filming his first TV show, Kyng Tavii Presents C!ancussion, after walking away from the 876 Roommates reality series last summer following an altercation.

In the biggest of ironies, the show is coming together with the help of director Carlington Silburn, who met Tavii while working as a producer on 876 Roommates.

"Carl is a man weh did always respect me and he's a genius in directing and editing," Tavii told THE STAR. "Him see everything weh gwaan and to how mi deal with the situation, the respect different. So, him did done mek up him mind seh he's gonna work with me. The same people who were working on 876 Roommates, except for the person weh own it, a di same people who a work with me pon this show."

The show is slated to premiere in August courtesy of Firstinline Plus, a production company that launched a subscription-based streaming service on April 1. The company is also behind an upcoming production with comedian Oliver Samuels, and is expected to roll out content with other local creators.

In a preview of Tavii's show, Firstinline described him as "Jamaica's Dave Chappelle".

Chappelle is known for his Chappelle Show which features comedy skits and a range of talents. Tavii's show bears similar elements.

"Mi definitely a guh give unno some comedy sketches pon a larger scale because Firstinline Plus a give me a whole production team fi work with," Tavii said.

"They are investing in me and dem a do whatever it takes to get in whatever Tavii needs fi the show, by any means necessary. Look out for some creators unno never yet see mi a work with and creators weh mi usually work with. Look out for local celebrities weh mi a pree fi feature on the show, too."

The 26-year-old recently welcomed his first child, whom he says is a major motivation for doing the show.

"This show will inspire youth but it's not just for my supporters, a mostly fi my daughter," he said.

"The love weh mi have for my daughter a push mi fi medz the things dem. Mi cya lose right now."

He is eyeing around nine episodes for the first season, with each episode expected to last around 30 minutes. Though he has more than 180,000 YouTube subscribers - the space where he posts his skits and then some - he wanted a different platform for his show, so he decided to "hold out" until presented with the right opportunity.
