Popular content creator and influencer Lexi D Bess was laid to rest yesterday following a thanksgiving service at the Rio Bueno playing field.

The words, 'Legends never die', which was embossed on the red casket, decorated with images Lexi D Bess, appeared to have been a theme of yesterday's ceremony.

In a remembrance delivered on behalf of Giselle Lowe, Lexi's sister, the late entertainer was described as one who was always fun to be around.

"She lived a beautiful life and she changed the world for the better," Lowe wrote. "She came, she saw and she conquered, so even decades after she will still be spoken of and remembered."

Aruna Allen, a friend, recalled being entertained by Lexi from their childhood days. She said that she was always in awe of her talent and told her that she would one day become a famous comedian.

"Lexi was never a fan of ring games like I was, she was always acting skits and organising everything, and trust me, she was always on point with every joke," Allen said.

Lexian Williams, 20, perished in a road crash along a section of the North Coast Highway in Trelawny on March 18.

"Rio Beuno has lost a star in her own right. Trelawny has lost a star, and Jamaica has lost a very prominent figure in our society," Pastor John Hines said.

Scores of mourners, many dressed in red and black, turned up at the funeral to pay their last respects to the entertainer and social media influencer.

Moderator Cornelius Grant said he was "nervous" to direct the day's proceedings "because I am an actor and I am known to be a jovial person. And when dem ask me fi moderate a funeral me sey a wah dem waah me fi do, gi people joke?"

"Nuh baddy nuh deh yah fi laugh," he said while noting that Lexi D Bess is someone who puts smiles on peoples' faces.

The comedian gave a short story about the last time he saw Lexi D Bess in person, stating that it was over a year ago despite the efforts to meet up. While the two talents spoke via WhatsApp, Grant appeared heartbroken that he had not seen her in person.

"It's been one year and couple months since I have seen Lexi," he said, while noting that they spoke often on the phone during those time.

A popular YouTube vlogger, Lexi D Bess was the winner of the reality TV series 876 Roommates and was expected to become one of Jamaica's successful entertainers.

Her remains were interned in the Duncan's Cemetery.
