Hennessy Pure White returns after two-year hiatus
The Heroes Weekend party scene was alive with entertainment, including the fifth staging of Hennessy Pure White last Friday in Ocean Village, Ocho Rios, St Ann.
The event, which originated in St Mary, returned after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"After the whole COVID [situation], we really went back to the drawing board and decided that we can't stick to just St Mary any more. We wanted to provide a whole new experience ... first time in Ocho Rios, and so far so good," said Hennessy Pure White promoter Phillip McKenzie.
The crowd was an interesting spread of international patrons and locals who came out to have a grand time.
"I flew in from New York to experience the Heroes Weekend celebration in Jamaica and I'm loving the vibe at Hennessy Pure White," shared Pat Lewis.
While some partygoers came for the fun, others came for the fashion, in true all-white style. Guests came out rocking white pants suits, skirt sets, dresses, and statement tops with the flashiest embellishments. One patron, Shanneila Stone, was confident in her looks and credited a popular local designer for it.
"It's an all-white event, so I had to get the trendiest outfit. My outfit is from the big, bad designer Brand Marco," she explained.
According to another promoter of the Hennessy Pure White team, Lamar Sutherland, they faced many obstacles along the way.
"I just want to say a big thank you to all sponsors on behalf of my team, [because] there is no 'I' in team, and there is a lot of sleepless nights, phone calls and messages; and I can't even begin to tell you how much we put into this. We put out plans and plans failed, but we went back to the drawing board and come again," said Sutherland.
Hennessy Pure White boasted a line-up of local and international DJs who kept patrons dancing, rocking, and singing away to their favourite hit songs all night.
