Japanese producer Gacha Medz releases song with Bayka
Japanese dancehall producer Gacha Medz is excited about his latest production Tokyo with dancehall newcomer Bayka.
Gacha Medz, given name Yu Sagayama, hails from Sapporo City in Hokkaido. He admitted that he is fulfilling his dream of contributing to dancehall music, and could not contain his excitement as he said Tokyo has exceeded his expectations since its release after Christmas.
"I was born in Japan but moved to Jamaica in 2008 just fi come do music. My Japanese friends introduced me to Stephen McGregor, Konshens and G Whizz. I worked with dem lots and dem teach mi so much things same time," he shared. "I feel so great to have produced Jamaican artistes 'cause my dream was always to be a part of dancehall music."
He said that Tokyo has been getting great feedback on TikTok.
"Posted more than 10,000 videos now, I am surprised too. It's blowing up TikTok now," he said.
Gacha Metz said he made the link with rising star Bayka through his contacts DJ Mac and Zimi, and said he is impressed with the deejay's delivery on the record.
"I am very excited, I like how him deal with the melody, flow, lyrics and everything," he said. Gacha Medz is eager to capitalise on the success of Tokyo in his native country, expressing a desire to have Bayka tour Japan and promote his music there.
Gacha Medz is no newcomer to dancehall, as among his credits is the production of Vybz Kartel's Beat Dem Bad featuring Squash, which he produced with Silent Addy from Miami.
