The Sickest Drama drops debut EP
Jamaica-based hip hop artiste The Sickest Drama (TSD) brings social commentary from a uniquely Third World perspective with his debut LP Luxury Tax.
"I'm stepping outside the box, thinking different and innovating with each song on this album. The producer Massy blessed me with an incredible arrangement that challenged me to find new pockets, and it's one of the reasons I really appreciate him as a producer on this project," TSD explained.
Using the thematic touchstone of the NBA's luxury tax and its associated impact on both players and the league, TSD uses the album to explore the challenges and pitfalls of creating art in postmodern times. He released the single White Noise as the lead single for the overall project which was released officially on April 15. TSD hopes to galvanise the local hip hop scene.
"I want to make a statement with this album. What does a lyricist sound like as we race towards the singularity in the digital consciousness? It's time to embrace the dawn of a new age," TSD said.
