Shaneil Muir ‘confident’ in tackling music and business

Jamaican artiste Shaneil Muir continues to stand firm on who she is and what she believes in with her latest hit single, Confident.

The song, which was produced by Chemist and Brown Boss Records in October, is a blend of an infectious rhythm and empowering lyrics that speaks to self-assurance and self-belief, which resonates deeply with the artiste.

"Writing Confident was basically about my experiences, especially in this time now where your natural body is not necessarily a socially acceptable form of yourself. But I'm always about self-empowerment and women empowerment, so it's always about affirmations, reminding ourselves, especially for the natural ladies, that we are who we are, regardless of what we're seeing on the media." she told THE WEEKEND STAR.

Muir said that even though the music video was already completed, she wasn't entirely satisfied with it, so she and her team are working to improve it. She was more excited to share the song's lyrics and melody. Still, she said that the video will be released before the year ends.

Muir also offered a glimpse into her business endeavours, revealing that her entrepreneurial ventures are thriving. "It's been very great, I've learnt a lot, apart from the music business and venturing into new business ... I'm able to work with other teams and even my family members inside my business, and other talented individuals as well." The artiste opened a salon and hair product company earlier this year.

Juggling the demands of a music career and business ventures can be challenging, but Muir manages it gracefully. She credits her achievements in both fields to her robust support system and a strong work ethic.

"It's hard to balance it. I try my very best but the thing about it is, I do have a very wonderful team at the store, and I have a very wonderful team in music," said Muir.

She said that she currently has a few music collaborations, but due to her business commitments and recent inactivity in the music scene, she is focusing on releasing singles. She promises to update fans on future collaborations.

The Top Gyal artiste told fans who are inspired by her,"You are your brand; always be yourself, no matter what. Don't lose yourself at all, and keep God in the middle of everything.

"If you're not religious, that's understandable. But if you are, always put God Jehovah in the centre of your decisions, the centre of your lives and the centre of your goals."
