Beenie Man enters ring for Rumble In The Sun

Grammy award-winning artiste Beenie Man will be the main entertainment act at Saturday's staging of Rumble In The Sun, a boxing match with promises to be an epic showdown between Donovan 'Razor' Ruddock and James 'Lights Out' Toney.

The heavyweight match-up will take place at the National Indoor Sports Centre in St Andrew.

Beenie Man has promised to light up the stage with a powerhouse performance, even as he anticipates his countryman, Ruddock, upstaging Toney, an international boxing hall of fame inductee.

"Being on the same stage with the legendary Donovan 'Razor' Ruddock is a blessing," said the King of the Dancehall.

"This fight is something Jamaica has needed for a while, and I'm happy to be part of it," he added.

Rumble in the Sun is dedicated to the global preservation and growth of boxing through the showcasing of legendary gladiators up-and-coming boxers. Part proceeds from Saturday's fight will go toward Ruddock's alma mater. This year, a portion of the proceeds will go to Good Hope Primary, which is located in St Catherine.

Ruddock and his daughter Kleopatra Ruddock, CEO of Red Ground Productions, the event organiser, launched the idea for the Rumble in the Sun boxing match to raise funds for much-needed renovations for the school and and to further their collaboration with the Gloves Over Guns initiative.

"Boxing has always been a way for me to celebrate Jamaica as my natural birthplace and the origin of my career," said Ruddock. "Competing in this boxing match is one of the greatest gifts I can offer my country, school and people," he added.
