In early 2022, one year before hostilities erupted in the Middle East between Hamas forces and Israel, Mykal Rose wrote a song about the long-running conflict between those factions.

That song, Freedom Way, is from I Give You Love, his album which was released in September. Driven by the title track and Freedom Way, I Give You Love is currently in its second week at number one on the South Florida Reggae Chart. The latter song's video contains disturbing scenes from the Gaza Strip, which is the site of countless battles between the bitter enemies.

Rose, former lead singer of Grammy-winning group Black Uhuru, has followed the Israeli-Palestinian war for years.

"Nuthin naah guh change, 'cause everything wha' yuh si a gwaan a from Christ days; from Christ a walk Earth," said Rose.

I Give You Love is produced by Adrian 'Donsome' Hanson for Donsome Records. He began recording with Rose shortly after meeting him a little more than one year ago. The track was released in 2022, followed later in the year by a version with Bugle.

The album was one of 65 considered for the Best Reggae Album category at the 2024 Grammy Awards. It did not make the final cut, but Rose plans to hit the road next year to further promote what he regards as one of his strongest solo albums to date.
