Dancehall star Capleton returned to Jamaica on Wednesday after a whirlwind press junket in the UK where he promoted his upcoming performance at the City Splash concert next year.

This was a triumphant return for Capleton to the UK, his first visit in 13 years. 'The Fireman' made stops at major radio stations such as KBBC 1xTRA. The deejay said that his favourite moment of the press junket was a meet-and-greet in Brixton.

"It come in like a stage show, because it was a press thing, maybe six or seven people were supposed to be there, and it turned out that 600 people come up. Ah stage show, ah pure excitement; it's a great look for reggae music," Capleton said.

City Splash Festival returns to London's Brockwell park on May 27, 2024 to celebrate the impact of Caribbean and African culture in the UK and beyond. This year's line-up includes artistes such as Beenie Man, Shenseea, Busy Signal, Anthony B and Ding Dong. Live events producer Ben Ryan, co-founder of City Splash, said that the press run was a great success.

"There is great excitement for Capleton here in the UK. He was amazing on all of the radio and press that he did," Ryan said. Capleton's manager Cabel Stephenson hailed the relevance and marketability of Capleton's brand in the global music marketplace.

"Capleton rose up through humble beginnings and, through his talent, he created the brand Capleton, which allowed him to become a global brand that Jamaica and the diaspora can be proud of. At age 56, he has taken reggae music, Brand Jamaica and brand Capleton towards global recognition. With his successful tour of Europe and his upcoming shows all over the world, Capleton is championing the music on a global scale and this is a great look for reggae music," Stephenson said.

Capleton is also working on a new album, his first studio project in more than a decade.
