Jamaica-born artiste Shavi's debut song, Mountain, serves as motivation to the youth to accomplish their dreams.

The song was released in November and has been gaining traction since. It amassed 10,000 streams on AudioMack in a week.

"I am a ghetto youth and we all have dreams in life. Make sure your dreams are positive, and work hard to make your dreams a reality," Shavi said.

"Your dreams may seem as big as a mountain, but these can be achieved as big as my song. The origin of the song came from hearing the 'Different Element' riddim, which I received from producer Dream-X sometime in April. I was home in my room relaxing, and what first struck me was the pronounced piano sounds. This was striking and melodic," he added.

After listening to the rhythm repeatedly, Shavi said that Dream-X told him to write a song that fits the rhythm.

"I felt a sense of greatness and thought how this could be transformed to real life, and how others could achieve the same feeling. I started writing the song the following day, with the chorus beginning, ' Grades got me higher than a mountain'," he added.

"This gave me more drive to complete the song, which was recorded at Ladden Movement Recording Studio (now Southside Recording Studio) in May Pen, Clarendon, [and was] mixed and mastered by Dream-X Productions," he said.

Shavi said that he has received encouragement from various persons, who have expressed their belief that the song has the quality to lift his career.

"A video is in the making," he added. Shavi, born Shevar Mundle, grew up in Clarendon and attended Foga Road High School in that parish.

"My brother inspired me to do music. He is known as deejay Itrad. I went to parties with him, even before I was a teen, and dreamt of performing on stage like my brother," he added.
