Reebel seeks long-awaited breakthrough

Reggae-dancehall artiste Reebel is confident that 2024 will be his breakthrough year in music.

"After 25 years in the music business, I have paid my dues and now I am ready to take my career to the next level. I had a good run last year performing on the live-event scene in Kingston, and this year I intend to keep the momentum going. My songs are also getting a lot of rotation. This is going to be my breakout year," said the artiste.

The lanky deejay, who is often compared with dancehall icon Buju Banton because of his deep, gravelly voice, is currently promoting three new singles, Big Dread, featuring Josey Wales, Kingston Hot and Nad. All three songs were produced by Dr Ghost and released on the D Empire Don Music imprint.

"My team and I are going all out with the promotion of these songs, and the feedback that we are receiving is very positive," he said. Reebel also has several new projects in the pipeline, including an EP which is slated to be released early this year.

"I am also looking forward to working on a movie project later this year," he said.

Reebel, given name Terrence Small, hails from the Red Hills Road area in St Andrew.

His other songs include Never Gonna Give Up On Jah, which was done with Bunny Rugs, Bad Inna Dancehall and Hollywood.
