Desi Ranks wants piece of the ‘Dutty Money’ pie
Canada-based reggae/dancehall artiste Desi Ranks is confident that his new single, Mi She Call Fa ,which he recorded on Rvssian's 'Dutty Money' rhythm, will be a big hit.
"Since I recorded this song, I've been getting crazy feedback about it. Everyone who has heard it says it's going to be a hit. I think people love it because it's a fun song, and the people are tired of scamming and gun songs. That's why Nigy Boy's song is so big right now, and I am sure that my song will be just as popular," he said.
According to the artiste, a friend encouraged him to record a song on the rhythm a few weeks ago.
"Although I've been hearing about all the excitement with the Dutty Money rhythm in Jamaica, I had no plans to record on it. But my friend, Mr Bertus, kept encouraging me to record a song on the rhythm. So eventually, I decided to go into my studio and vibe it. As soon as I began listening to the beat, the lyrics of the song came to me. It's the fastest song I've recorded," said Desi Ranks.
The St Thomas-born deejay is hoping that Rvssian will authorise the song.
"Even if he doesn't approve it, it's still going to be a hit because the people love it," he said.
Desi Ranks is also promoting his debut album, titled Coming At U Hard, which was released late last year.
