Canada-based reggae artiste Johnson Code is determined to make his mark on the local music scene.

"I live and work in Canada, but when it comes to my music, Jamaica is the main area of focus. I want to make a serious impact in Jamaica with my music, because once the Jamaican audience gives my music the seal of approval, then I can conquer the rest of the world," he said.

The Kingston-born deejay was recently on the island promoting two new singles, Grow and Learn, which was produced by Jahni Records, and God Mighty, co-produced by Action House and AJ Music.

"I had a good time promoting my music in Jamaica. Despite what some people are saying, Jamaicans still love good reggae music. Everywhere I went to promote my songs I received a positive response," said Johnson Code, who was also busy in the studio.

"I am happy that I was also able to go into the studio and lay down some tracks for my upcoming EP. I have more tracks to go before it's completed, so I'll be returning to the island very soon to finish up the project. If everything goes as planned, it will be ready for release this summer," he added.

Johnson Code, given name Alvin Alexander Johnson, launched his recording career in the early '90s with the release of a single titled It's A Danger (Loving Your Body Too Much).
