Dancehall artiste Ijahmar hopes that his latest song, ' Dreams', can become a rallying cry for the ambitious.

He is confident that the single has the grit and fire that can get under the skin of any listener, fuelling them to push through any obstacle.

"We have greatness in us, we are greater than our circumstances. We don't have to go through life being a victim. We have to run towards our dreams, that is what my song is doing, reminding people say ah life without dreams is not living. That is just existing; you're just a robot then. Get up and dream," Ijahmar said. The single's video has racked up over 12,000 views.

"Someone's opinion of you doesn't have to become your reality. Use what you have to achieve. No matter what, we have to continue to dream," he added. Because he wears locs and puts forward certain views in his daily conversations, Ijahmar said persons think that he is a Rastafarian.

"I just want to make it clear that I'm not into religious doctrines or rigid beliefs. Everything ah just a story and I'm here to live my story and I'm doing it as a god inna music," he said. Ijahmar has been pursuing music for a few years. His songs tackle social issues and matters of the heart, and are mixed with his optimistic philosophy that light exists in all things. He hopes that 2024 will be his breakthrough year in music.

"Mi no give up because mi love music and people need mi music. I am a part of a community of artistes like Krooks, Estimatevalen, Chyna Lag, Hicloud, Sean Smalls, Igenous and others, and we help to push each other towards our individual objectives," he said.

Ijahmar grew up in Rockfort, east Kingston. He was educated at the Norman Gardens Primary and Junior High School and later attended the Edith Dalton James High School, where he discovered a love for music and started building his talent by the age of 15. While attending high school, he got caught up in gang and community conflicts. As a consequence, he only did one semester of 11th grade before dropping out.

He signed to New York-based record label One Hundred Degrees Records in 2018, and got some buzz in 2023 with the single Thousand Reasons.
