The cool, centrally located parish of Manchester has given the world several popular reggae and dancehall stars, including Luciano, Tony Rebel, Garnett Silk, and General Degree.

Determined to keep this rich musical heritage alive, Rad Dixon has joined forces with his label and management company, Tasjay Productions, to promote the first annual staging of the Give Thanks For Life Concert. This event is scheduled to take place at the Cecil Charlton Park in Mandeville on May 4.

"Promoting this event is like a dream come true for me because I've always wanted to put on a free event for the people of Manchester and surrounding areas. This event is also a homecoming for me because it's been a very long time since I have performed in my parish. So, this is an opportunity for me to reconnect with my home town fans who last saw me performing years ago when my stage name was Rated R," said Dixon.

The event, which takes its name from his recently released single, Give Thanks For Life, will feature performances from several reggae and dancehall acts, including Utan Green, Dezi Boyd, Lil Kish, Jah Torch, Iyasimba, Mr Steele, Gangie B Musa, Tucker and Ariel, and Reggae Maxx and Gee Rhay.

"The Give Thanks For Life concert was created to celebrate Manchester's rich musical heritage. Therefore, we have selected an awesome line-up of talented artistes from the parish. Although this a free event, it will be a top-notch production because we want our patrons to come out and enjoy good live entertainment in a clean and secure environment," Dixon said.

The backing band for the event will be the Step By Step Band. Recorded music will be provided by radio personality DJ Amber.
