It’s ‘celebration time’ for veteran producer

In the 26 years since he began producing music, Chester Walker has used the skills he learned as an engineer to enhance songs artistes record for his Very Huge Records label.

He called on that know-how for Celebration Time, a song featuring Wayne Wonder, Charly Black and DJ Wiz out of Toronto. Scheduled for release this month, it is recorded on 'The Golden Harp' rhythm. Given his reputation, getting them on board for the uptempo track was easy.

"With artistes aware of my writing talent and musical insight, the relationships shared with them over the years help. Being competent and professional also helps," said Walker. Celebration Time is his latest project with Wayne Wonder, whom he has known for over 30 years. As an engineer, he worked on Baby You And I, a big hit for the singer in 1993 which was produced by Steely and Clevie.

Walker said he came up with the idea for Celebration Time two years ago, but given the busy schedules of Wayne Wonder and Charly Black, recording the song took longer than anticipated. But the wait has been worth it for the St Thomas-born Walker. All Night by Vviche and Dance Forever by Kayla are also on The Golden Harp.
