Dancehall artiste Ky July is excited about the response to his latest single, Bloodline, a hard-hitting song with grimy lyrics that is generating heat in the streets.

"My songs are based on my previous experiences and my determination to change the lives of my family and friends," said the artiste, whose given name is Kyle Nicholas Bernard. Other singles which have been generating streams include Distance and Cheat Code. Ky July has developed a reputation for releasing songs with unusual emotionally charged titles such as Die Young, Dark Clouds and Godzilla Mouth.

"I name all my songs based on the mood or the aura of the song, and whatever I am talking about in said song," he said. He grew up in the communities of Portmore, Spanish Town in St Catherine, and Duhaney Park in St Andrew. During his teenage years, he attended Kingston College and Calabar High School. At church, he landed a spot on the choir and eventually became its lead singer. He even wrote songs for the choir as his songwriting skills grew.

While in high school, he excelled in football but music remained his first love. He christened himself Ky July, and worked assiduously on his craft during his teenage years, visiting studios in Kingston. Eventually, he recorded and released his first song, She Wah Me, featuring Kling, aka 'Prince Pine', in 2013.

A few years later, Ky July released an 18-track EP titled The Missing Link under the management of Sam SkillingtonMusic. Ky July has been steadily building his audience through his daily interactions with his fans through his social media pages.

"I want to make my name a household name and build a brand/business, and ultimately create a progressive change in the direction of my sound and music," he said.
