Reggae singer Andy Livingston is always willing to give a helping hand where it is needed.

"From the beginning of my career, I vowed that I would use my talent to help the less fortunate. I am not only a singer and a poet, I am also an events promoter. So, over the years I have used some of the funds generated from my events to make donations to various charities and individuals in need," said Livingston.

The easy-going singer, who is known for songs such as No Solution and Dancehall featuring Busy Signal, is getting ready to stage the first annual Reggae In Action concert which is scheduled for Sunday at the Police Officers' Club in St Andrew. Part proceeds will go to the Jamaica Cancer Society.

"One of my uncles recently died from prostate cancer and some of my schoolmates have been diagnosed with various forms of cancer. This prompted me to start thinking about what I could do to help people who are suffering from this terrible disease. After talking to people in my network, I became aware of the Jamaica Cancer Society and the work that they are doing. I also found out that the society needs funding which is why I have created this event," he said.

The line-up includes Luciano, Peter Metro, Benjy Myaz, Dean Fraser and Sampalue.

"I am encouraging all the folks out there who love good reggae music to come out and support this event which is being held for a worthy cause," said Livingston.
