Guzu Boss cruising to dancehall success
Guzu Boss, given name Zaudy Perry, is a man on a mission, riding the wave of his smash hit ' Probox', a hardcore song laid on a heavy hip hop infused dancehall rhythm bed.
Probox speaks about 'righteous drive-bys' to eliminate those who prey on innocent children, and can perhaps be forgiven for its harshness. The song has racked up close to 50,000 hits on Vevo.
The Linstead, St Catherine native has had a chequered career as a sales associate within the tourism industry at the Falmouth Cruise Ship Pier, as a radio sales executive, and on the high seas with Norwegian Cruise Lines.
Influenced by the late rap icon Tupac Shakur, he takes a similar hard-edged but sensitive outlook to music.
"'Pac' understood life's struggles on the street and was able to express these feelings in his music which was really a kind of rap poetry," he said. Reggae great Buju Banton is another of his motivators and he identifies with many of the themes the artiste explores.
Inspired by a childhood friend, Dadda Biggs, given name Rohan Davis, with whom he founded a record label in Montego Bay, St James, Guzu Boss is a regular performer at popular St Catherine events including Inna Di Yard Fridays Brawlin Wednesdays.
