Reggae singer Aiesha is quite upbeat about her recent Caribbean Music Awards nomination. She is nominated in the category Best New Artiste (Reggae). This is her second nomination.

"I'm truly honoured and blessed that my hard work is being recognised. This nomination signifies growth in my career," Aiesha shared. Last year, she released her first EP titled, Cleopatra. The seven-song project was released via Yardstyle Entertainment and featured the collaboration Gimme Gimme with gold-selling Billboard artiste Mad Cobra. Aiesha is gearing up to hit the red carpet at the Caribbean Music Awards, which takes place on August 29 in Brooklyn, New York.

Aiesha is the daughter of Aston 'Family Man' Barrett, the former bandleader of Bob Marley's backing band The Wailers. She is featured on Sean Paul's Dutty Rock Productions' latest project, the 'Brimstone' rhythm. Her song is titled Delight. She spoke about working with the Grammy Award-winning, multiplatinum-selling international recording artiste.

"I was very nervous and grateful at the same time. I wasn't sure which direction to go with the song at first because the riddim was still being created. I started writing and my friend Kellz, who is a great artiste and songwriter, helped me. He was amazing and together we were able to create something amazing. I wasn't sure how Sean was going to feel about it, but he loved it and it was history after that," Aiesha explained. She also shared the inspiration behind Delight.

"I was in a situationship, and it was getting intense. My significant other and I weren't around each other much. I was touring with The Wailers a lot and [I was] crazy busy. We were getting closer, but scared at the same time. I was in Australia and the distance between us made me realise I was needing him more than ever. It was a different type of missing connection, so the song was a form of internal communication. I needed to let the emotions and feelings out," said Aiesha.

The singer, who was mentored by rap legend Timbaland, has been making various moves, working with various artistes such as Buju Banton, and producers including Kemar McGregor, Blaqk Sheep and MAFFIO.
