Montego Bay-based dancehall artiste Rich23 is generating major street buzz with his new single, ' Paint a Picture', a 'get-money' song that encapsulates the grind of the streets resulting in tangible success.

" Paint a Picture is a song of empowerment. Let's face the facts, money is an important factor in our lives. Paint a Picture is all about my life and the growth I see happening and want to manifest right now as I continue to move forward; not just for me, but others as well who can relate," said the artiste, whose given name is Christopher Junior Drummond. He will be releasing a video for the project this month.

"The people love it; so far the energy is there," he said.

Rich23 grew up in Coral Gardens, Montego Bay, where he attended Spot Valley High School. He developed a passion for music at a fairly young age.

"When I was nine years old, my grandfather used to bring me to the studio on weekends just to record. From then until now, my love for music continued to grow," he said.

He wrote his first song, Go Harder, at the age of 12, but it was never officially released. During his teenage years, he adopted the moniker Rich23, and a community legend was born.

"Twenty-three is my lucky number. It is the marker for a strong black man. I put the 'Rich' in front of it, as that is the energy I want to manifest, not only in terms of material wealth, but richness of life," he said.

Rich23's legend began to grow in his community because of his high-energy performances and natural charisma. He eventually inked a recording contract with Overproof Records Ltd, which began to produce his tracks.

Locked away in the studio for the past year, he has recorded a number of songs for his debut EP, Forever Rich.

"My future plans in the music industry are to perfect my craft, provide relatable songs for my fans, and do tours in different places all around the world," he said.
