BZR WKND postponed
Organisers of BZR WKND (Bizarre Weekend) Jamaica, which was slated to be held between July 26-28, yesterday announced that the event would be postponed in light of the damage caused by Hurricane Beryl.
Noting that last year's edition, which was headlined by Chris Brown and friends, attracted tens of thousands of tourists and local patrons, the organisers in a release said they were eagerly anticipating another incredible show this summer, headlined by another mega international superstar.
"But after witnessing the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, which devastated several parts of Jamaica, we have decided to direct our focus on relief efforts. Thus, we are rescheduling BZR WKND Jamaica 2024 to a later date this autumn," the release said. "This decision was made to ensure the well-being of our attendees, staff, and the local community."
The organisers said that while they shared in the disappointment, they expressed confidence that the rescheduled event will be bigger and better.
"We are using this time to enhance the festival experience, adding new features and performances that will make it truly unforgettable," the release said. "In the meantime, we are dedicated to supporting the Jamaican community during this difficult time. We will be on the island partnering with local organisations and authorities to assist in restoration efforts, providing resources, manpower, and financial support to help rebuild and rejuvenate the affected areas."
The organisers pointed out that tickets are still valid for the new date. Those patrons who are unable to make the new date, are advised to contact their ticket vendor for a full refund. Organisers said that further details about BZR WKND Jamaica 2024's new date and additional enhancements will be announced at another time.
