Blae Minott sings about the power of money

Reggae artiste Daniel 'Blae' Minott, son of the legendary Lincoln 'Sugar' Minott, is making waves with his hard-hitting single, Dalla Bill, a bold statement on the undeniable power of money in today's world.

The track is a standout from his I Am Dancehall EP, released under his own On My Block label, and carries a message that strikes a chord with modern society.

"There's nothing funny about not having money. We are living in a pay-to-live world, so money is always relevant, and so I felt like expressing that belief musically," Blae Minott shared, reflecting on the inspiration behind the song.

Minott's conviction runs deep. Citing the Bible verse Ecclesiastes 10:19, " A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things", he emphasises that financial independence is key.

"Money answereth all things. Dalla Bill is just me trying to express to the youth and people of today to be serious about getting their money right, because neither the Government nor the Church is gonna do it for you," he reasoned.

Blae Minott's journey in music began early, growing up in Kingston, immersed in his father's musical legacy. Back in 1986, his father had tried to form a family group, with plans to record a track called Reggae The Beat. Although the song never saw the light of day and the group disbanded, Minott's passion for music only grew stronger.

At just 15, Minott became one of the youngest in-house engineers at the famed Youthman Promotion studio, working alongside Carlo Gray. By 1999, he stepped back into the spotlight, writing and recording his first official track, Can't Take It No More, with label mate Tampanae, which quickly made its way on to ocal radio playlists.

Since then, Blae Minott has continued to evolve as an artiste. Earlier this year, he released his reggae-driven Citizen of Love EP, showcasing his versatility and deep connection to the genre, while building his own legacy in the reggae world.
