R Embassida warns youth to stay away from crime

February 18, 2025

Reggae artiste R Embassida is back on the music scene with an anti-crime song titled Johnny.

The track, produced by Fatah, was released on January 2. Johnny dives deep into the acidic culture that plagues most inner-city communities and serves as a warning to youth who intend to live a life of crime and violence. The track was done on a remade version of the 'Bitter Blood' rhythm, which was composed by the legendary production duo, Steelie and Clevie.

"Growing up, my father used to sing the song, ' Johnny be good tonight'. 'Johnny' represents a person who wants to be recognised as the 'bad boy' and earn respect in the garrison. Every community has or knows a Johnny," remarked the versatile singjay. R Embassida said he was pleased with the support that he has been getting since the song was released.

"The song has been getting a lot of support and I am so grateful for that," the jubilant artiste stated. A music video for the single is set to be released in two weeks, but R Embassida said he is already back in the studio working.

"Just keep looking out for me, there is so much more music to come from me in 2025," he said.

Priory to the release of Johnny, he was noticeably absent from the music scene for some time. The lyricist said this was due to an overwhelming need to spend time with his family.
