Khandy Brawling plots dancehall takeover

February 28, 2025

Khandy Brawling strutted into THE STAR's offices like the queen she is becoming. Flaunting a freshly sculpted body, courtesy of Designer Bodies, she insists that she is not only turning heads, but is about to shake things up in the entertainment space.

"Mi come fi mash down and chop down the place," said the TikTok firecracker, who recently collaborated with Trinidad and Tobago's soca artiste Nelly Cottoy to release a song called Single. In a matter of days, the track has racked up thousands of views on YouTube.

In addition to Single, Khandy is also receiving favourable responses to releases such as Going Down, Donia Rock, Last Stop, a collaboration with Intence. She says it is only the beginning as she plans to shake things up and dominate the entertainment space. And she has no doubt people will embrace her.

"My style and energy is different. Sometimes I am performing and I will jump off the stage, I will split and spray up water from my mouth. I do a lot of different stuff, so even if the music isn't good, my performance and energy will definitely capture people," Khandy told THE WEEKEND STAR.

The Old Harbour, St Catherine native once dreamt of being a police officer, but found her true calling in entertainment. But as she sets about rewriting the rules of dancehall, Khandy insists that her rise to stardom didn't happen overnight.

"I was doing promotions, music video, and so on; and I had a great following on Instagram. Then TikTok came about and I was on it for a little while, but it wasn't going as planned .... . Sometimes there were just four or 10 people on my Live, but now I can get 10,000 or more people logging now," she said.

However, life on TikTok hasn't been all about gifts. Khandy has had to battle relentless trolls, and she has not been afraid to fire barbs at them.

"Mi cuss dem whole heap. What gets me really angry is that the people who are coming at me, dem no look good. And I am not trying to disrespect anyone either, but dem nuh look good. That alone get mi angry," she said.

In recent days, the Internet has had plenty to say about her new curves, following her body-enhancement surgery. Detractors have claimed that her surgery appeared to have been botched. However, Khandy has not been shy about shutting down the naysayers.

"I am getting a whole lot of criticism right now. Dem a say Designer Bodies spoil mi body; but what they don't understand is that your body can take from three months to six months to actually come to perfection. I am just three weeks, so you not going to see the perfection right now. Mi just make dem talk, because mi know mi set good and right,"Khandy said.

She insists she was always naturally curvy, but after childbirth, she needed a little "tweaking".

"Mi did shape good already, but now mi shape better because mi b@tty get bigger. I had a big bum before, but then the baby came about, and I was sick during pregnancy and I lost a lot of weight. But now mi do mi body and cute up, and now mi look fabulous. I am still baking right now," she bragged.

But not everyone has been in awe of Khandy's new looks. Tongues went wagging a few days ago after she made a video showing off her assets. Some people commented that her derriere appeared abnormal. Khandy said she understands the criticism, but blamed her appearance on the compression garment she wore.

"In the video I was turning around and I was wearing the faja, so it made my bum look a way," she said. "It kinda look weird fi true, and mi nah guh dispute that. But when mi come outta the faja mi body nice, but mi just make dem gwan talk," she added between a fit of laughter.
