St Thomas native Tielo Lanez always had music in his blood. Though not a professional singer, his mother possessed a voice filled with passion, passing on her love for music to her son. His journey into the music industry, however, was not one he initially sought after.

"Mi neva really waa fi guh ina music, it jus happen fi me," he shared. Someone pushed him to start deejaying while he was in Tobago, simply because he was Jamaican. He was ignited by that moment, which led him down a road that would soon alter his life forever.

"Life before music was peaceful. I was a normal person. I could go anywhere without worry or criticism. Right now, I just have to be careful of everything I say and do. I can't go out and be a normal person sometimes. It's not like I can walk out on the road and just be a normal person again," he told T HE STAR.

"I just can't explain how it feels. Sometimes I just feel like I want to stop. Mi nuh really know how fi feel bout it. It gets very exhausting sometimes, but I can't give up on it now," he further shared.

The artiste, who lists R&B artistes like Tory Lanez and Ella Mai as major influences, has released songs such as Greedy, Muck Truck, and Restoration.

"I like that type of music because it resonates with my emotions. I can relate to it and I like to write music that others can relate to," he said of the R&B genre.

Looking ahead, he prefers to let destiny guide his journey, instead of having expectations.

"Mi just ago see wherever it bring me. Because, as mi seh, mi neva choose it, a it choose me. So, since a it choose me, let's see where it brings me," he told THE STAR.

When asked about dream collaborations, Tielo didn't hesitate citing, "Tory Lanez and Ella Mai, hopefully someday. Locally, mi woulda love fi work wid Valiant."

For up-and-coming artistes, his advice is simple but powerful: "It's gonna get really difficult at times. And you're gonna feel like you want to give up, but just don't. Keep pushing. And sometimes things ago work and sometimes things are not gonna work. Music can carry you further than you think. But don't just do it because you see other people doing it and you want to follow. Make sure you want it, so it can feel more peaceful. Because that will stress yuh!"
