After performing at a sold-out show in Boston, Massachusetts, dancehall artiste Alkaline has once again solidified his musical impact globally.

The Champion Boy deejay successfully completed the first leg of his New Rules tour in Boston after which the Massachusetts State Senate officially recognised his contributions to music and culture with a citation, which made the evening become even more memorable. The recognition, which was given by Democratic State Senator Liz Miranda, honours Alkaline's creative accomplishments and the contributions his music has made to communities. With this accolade, he joins a select group of dancehall musicians recognised for their impact outside of the Caribbean.

"I'm incredibly honoured to be recognised. It's a privilege to share my music with the world, and I'm grateful for the support that has helped me along the way. Maximum respect!" Alkaline shared.

When asked if this award was expected, he made it clear that the honour was a surprise, yet a good validation of his efforts.

"No enuh, it wasn't expected. But when you put in the work, stay consistent and keep pushing the culture forward, recognition comes. So it wasn't expected but definitely appreciated" he told THE STAR.

The honour emphasises dancehall music's influence on a global scale and growing acceptability in mainstream settings. For Alkaline, this accolade represents not just a victory for himself, but a victory for the genre as a whole.

"It shows that the genre is still alive, and growing and being respected on a global scale. If you stay real, keep creating and pushing your craft the world will take notice. So from dem believe dem will achieve," he added.

Thousands of fans turned out for Alkaline's return to the stage in Boston, where he delivered a high-energy performance.

"With it being the first stop for 2025, Boston was great. It was a sold-out event. The audience was not just receptive, but signing word for word. It has definitely set the stage for the UK which will be an even greater experience," he said.

Alkaline, after receiving this esteemed honour, plans to continue with his exciting performances, and to stay on track with plans for his eagerly awaited New Rules tour.

"We will be continuing the New Rules tour with London on April 17, Canada on June 21 and Jamaica on July 5 and of course, the music never stops," he said.
