‘Pump Up’ marks 60th birthday in style
Clive 'Pump Up' Grannell, owner of Pump Up Liquor Store, celebrated a major milestone on Good Friday, marking his 60th birthday in grand style.
The festivities, held at D' Lux Restaurant & Gaming Lounge in St Andrew, saw tributes paid to Pump Up's impressive legacy and influence in Jamaica's liquor industry. Sponsored by luxury cognac brand Courvoisier, the event had an upscale, elegant atmosphere, with guests stepping out in their finest, dressed "to the nines."
One of the night's biggest highlights came when Courvoisier presented Pump Up with a custom-made cake themed after the prestigious brand, a striking centerpiece that captured both the sophistication of Courvoisier and Pump Up's strong connection with the cognac's distributors.
Later in the night, around 1 a.m., confetti rained down as the DJ offered a heartfelt toast, celebrating Pump Up's lifelong contributions to his family, friends, and community and wishing him many more birthdays ahead.
"This birthday celebration is not just about marking another year of my life," said Pump Up.
"It's a chance to recognize the amazing journey I've had in the liquor industry, and to share this moment with those who have been a part of that journey. I'm grateful to Courvoisier for their incredible generosity and support in making this 60th year celebrations an extra-special one."
Levi Bloomfield, commercial manager at J. Wray & Nephew, also took a moment to toast Pump Up's achievements and long-standing relationship with the company.
"Pump Up has been a cornerstone of the local liquor industry for as long as can be remembered. At Courvoisier, we believe every moment of celebration deserves to be extraordinary. However, Pump Up's birthday isn't just a party - it's a toast to bold energy, and a legacy of excellence," Bloomfield said.
