JJ Wizzle makes international debut at Kartel concert
Disc jock and music producer JJ Wizzle says he is thankful for being a part of Vybz Kartel's recent sold-out concert at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida.
The concert, Vybz Kartel's first in Florida in close to 20 years, reportedly drew more than 20,000 patrons, who enjoyed performances by guest performers including Wayne Wonder, Gyptian, Stefflon Don and Bounty Killer's son, Major Myjah. JJ Wizzle is Gyptian's DJ, and this was his debut on an international stage.
"I was booked as a supporting act for Gyptian and I must say, it was a memorable experience. It was a great look for dancehall music, just seeing the large turnout of patrons, and this shows that the genre is successful and continues to make a huge impact," said JJ Wizzle, whose given name is Paul Stephenson. He said the performances by the artistes were major highlights at the concert.
"Just to see the crowd's reception of Gyptian; Vybz Kartel's top-tier set in which he introduced Bounty's son; and then having superstars like DJ Khaled, Wayne Wonder, Offset from Migos and Stefflon Don all coming out to support Kartel, was really impactful. Big up to MC Nuffy for giving me a 20-minute set to entertain such a big crowd of people who enjoyed the music and the entire vibes. Big up to Vybz Kartel and his team for the opportunity," JJ Wizzle disclosed.
"The feedback from the crowd was overwhelming," the Portmore-based JJ Wizzle said. "The people were rocking to classic dancehall, reggae, soca and hip-hop music. I had to close the set on a high note. Jamaican music is huge and it's going places."
