Empress Seelah Love pushes positive vibes
Reggae singer Empress Seelah Love is calling on her colleagues in the music industry to be more conscious of the messages conveyed in their songs.
"I believe that music is a gift from the Creator and it should be used to heal and uplift people, not destroy them. Now more than ever, we need songs with positive messages, as we live in a world where people are struggling with a wide range of issues. Some people are having financial problems, health problems, some are going through divorces," she said.
She continued, "I hope my brothers and sisters in the music industry will realise that they need to play a vital role in making the world a better place and start by recording more uplifting music. I'm not trying to put anyone down, but there are too many songs out there promoting negative messages."
The St Catherine-born singer who resides in England, is currently promoting three singles: Find A Better Purpose, Thankful and More Love. All produced by her, the songs were released on her Candy Stripe Music Label.
"These songs are enjoying a warm reception from reggae music lovers all over the world. I'm not surprised at all because they carry positive, uplifting messages that resonate with people from all walks of life. My music is therapeutic and soothing; it's good for the soul," she said. Empress Seelah Love is also working on her debut album.
"I've already recorded and produced several songs for this project, but I still have a few more to record to go. My album will also feature some songs produced by Love Star Music."
Empress Seelah Love, given name Dawn Barnes, is a past student of Charlie Smith High School.
