Tropical Storm Matthew approaching Jamaica

As Tropical Storm Matthew approaches Jamaica, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is advising the public to monitor the radio for information.

The Meteorological Service of Jamaica had earlier reported that Tropical Storm Matthew had formed in Eastern Caribbean this morning. Reports are that Tropical Storm Matthew will move through the Windward Islands in the next few hours.

Based on gradual strengthening, it is believed that Matthew could become a hurricane by Friday. 

The ODPEM is, therefore, advising the public to take the necessary precautions to protect life and property in the event of a hurricane.
