MAN SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES RECEIVED IN MOUNTAIN VIEW FIRE
Forty-eight-year-old Everett Austin of Jacques Avenue, Kingston 3 succumbed to injuries he received in a fire at his home on Sunday.
The Mountain View Police said that about 2:35 p.m., persons were illegally filling compressed gas cylinders from a storage tank attached to the back of a motor truck. It is reported that during the extraction process, one of the cylinders caught fire and subsequently exploded.
The explosion resulted in five persons being seriously injured and major damage to several properties. Three units from Fire Department responded and cauterized the blaze preventing further injury or damage to property.
The remaining four persons, which include two teenage boys, are still in hospital in serious but stable condition.
