Man accused of trying to steal rum by tying bottles to his waist
A young man accused of stealing five bottles of J. Wray and Nephew rum from the company grounds by tying them to his waist had his bail extended when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court today.
Allegations are that on October 16, the accused, Andre Morgan, was exiting the grounds of J. Wray and Nephew at about 4:15 p.m., when the security on duty searched him and noticed five bottles of sealed rum tied around his waist.
Upon hearing the allegations, Senior Parish Judge Judith Pusey light-heartedly questioned, “You were walking in the spirit?”
Morgan pleaded not guilty to the charge of simple larceny. His lawyer requested disclosure, and the matter will be mentioned again on November 10.
A finger print order was made against the accused.
