Police seize illegal guns and ammunition

The St Thomas police have taken a man in custody in relation to the seizure of a quantity of ammunition in the parish last Thursday.

Information reaching our news desk is that the lawmen recovered one hundred 5.56 rounds.

THE STAR understands that the ammunition was unearthed along the Retreat Main Road.

The name of the man in custody is being withheld pending further investigation.

The Morant Bay police are investigating.

Meanwhile, The West Kingston police seized three illegal firearms on Spanish Town Road in Kingston last Saturday.

Reports are that a .380 Taurus Pistol, one Smith and Wesson revolver and one 9mm Taurus Pistol were seized during an operation in the area.

An undisclosed quantity of ammunition was also seized.

Two men and a woman were taken into custody following the find.
