Still waiting for Fort Charlotte's development

Nerris Hawthorne, chairman of the Lucea Development Initiative, wants answers about when the rehabilitation work at the historic Fort Charlotte landmark in Lucea, Hanover, will begin.

Hawthorne said a plan was drafted following a meeting with the Tourism Enhancement Fund last August but nothing has been heard about Fort Charlotte's development since.

"It has been more that 30 years that we have been waiting for something to happen," she said.

"The place is unsafe. There are no rails. A lot of people go there daily, both local and visitors, and anything could happen because the place is open. Furthermore, the Hanover Muni-cipal Corporation is making no money at all, although the buses are going in. So it is high time that some development happens," she added.
