Rapper of Jamaican descent killed in Florida

American rapper XXXTentacion, whose father is reportedly a Jamaican, was shot and killed yesterday in Broward County, Florida, sending shock waves across the music industry.

According to reports, XXXTentacion, 20, whose given name is Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was shot in Deerfield Beach, Florida, at 3:57 p.m.

Police and first responders found the young rapper slumped over the steering wheel of his Lamborghini sport car.

THE STAR gathered that he was shopping for motorcycles in Deerfield Beach, Florida, when loud explosions were heard.

According to billboard.com, the embattled rapper's rise to rap's mainstream has been mired in legal trouble as he was facing more than a dozen felony charges and allegations of domestic violence.

XXXTentacion was awaiting trial when he was killed.

He has more than eight million followers on Instagram and is known for songs such as Sad, Everybody Dies in Their Nightmare and Changes.

XXXTentacion recently earned his first No. 1 album on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart with ?.
