A police service vehicle transporting prisoners, including the brother of Christopher 'Dudus' Coke, crashed yesterday morning in the vicinity of Maxfield Avenue, resulting in injuries.

Information reaching THE STAR is that 'Bommer T', given name Lancaster Coke, reportedly complained of injuries after the crash which occurred shortly before noon.

Our news team gathered that while assistance was being rendered to the prisoners, Coke reportedly told responders at the scene that he was suffering from immense pain in his leg.

THE STAR gathered that the convoy was properly secured because of the risk factors involving those in custody.

A relative of Coke contacted THE STAR and said that they were concerned after receiving information that he may have suffered a broken leg.

The relative said: "They were being transferred from Constant Spring to Horizon. Someone at the scene of the crash told us that they saw him being assisted after the accident and he was yelling that he was feeling pain in his leg. We were also told that the police vehicles were racing and that may have caused the accident."

When contacted yesterday, Assistant Superintendent of police Dahlia Garrick confirmed that there was an accident while the prisoners were being transported.

She told our news team: "There was an accident. No one was seriously injured. They (police) were in the process of transporting prisoners when they met in an accident."

Garrick also said that "One officer complained of whiplash. That was all."

The extent of the damage to the vehicle was not ascertained.
