Probe launched after examiner killed by cop

Investigators in Clarendon have commenced their probe into the fatal shooting of a motor vehicle examiner by a detective constable attached to the May Pen Police, late Wednesday night.

Information reaching THE WEEKEND STAR is that 43-year-old Navardo Ford of a Chatteau Road, May Pen address was shot and killed during a confrontation with the policeman.

Our news team gathered that the policeman and a female were together in his private motor car which was parked at a gate, when Ford drove up and allegedly pulled the female from the vehicle.

An argument ensued and during an alleged confrontation, Ford was shot multiple times allegedly by the police officer.

The woman was reportedly also shot in the incident.

PROBE BEGUN

Both the woman and Ford were rushed to the May Pen Hospital where he was pronounced dead and the woman treated and released.

The incident occurred at about 10:10 p.m.

The matter was reported to the May Pen Police and upon their arrival, Ford's body was removed to the morgue.

When our news team contacted head of the Clarendon police division, Senior Superintendent Vendolyn Cameron-Powell, she told THE WEEKEND STAR that a probe has begun however it was still early days.

Cameron-Powell said, "The police are putting together the case file. The policeman and the female have been interviewed and statements collected. He was present and she was present."

When asked if the constable and the female were an item, Cameron-Powell said, "I don't know. All I know that the detective is a member of my Clarendon team."
