Phone theft matter set for mediation
A St James man who reportedly stole a cellular phone from a man at his workplace is to attend restorative justice sessions with the complainant before returning to the St James Parish Court on November 8.
Ethan Forbes is charged with simple larceny. The details of the allegations were not outlined when he appeared in court last Friday.
Presiding parish judge Sandria Wong-Small set the new date after Forbes' attorney Clive Mullings suggested mediation to resolve the issue between the parties as "this is something that took place at his workplace".
Shortly afterwards, the complainant requested to have his phone returned to him.
"Can I get the phone back today?" the complainant asked Wong-Small.
"You will have to settle the matter at mediation first, sir," Wong-Small replied. She then extended Forbes' bail and made the restorative justice order.
