The Kingston College (KC) family has been rattled by the death of at least five of its boys, including present and past students, in recent weeks, plunging the usually vibrant institution into mourning.

At least four students died from natural causes, while two others were shot, one fatally. Another is said to be nursing injuries he sustained in a gun attack earlier this week, which also claimed the life of his father.

The latest loss to the KC community surrounds the death of 16-year-old fifth former Daniel Wray, who was allegedly shot and killed by a friend, while playing with a gun.

Our news team understands that the gun owner is currently overseas.

According to the St Catherine South police, Wray was shot and killed on Wednesday when he and the friend were playing with a firearm belonging to the friend's uncle in Portmore Pines, St Catherine.

The police said that Wray was shot in the head at about 3:40 p.m. His friend has since been taken into custody for questioning.

Efforts to get a response from the school's principal, Dave Myrie, proved futile, as several calls to his office went unanswered.
