The Social Development Commission (SDC) will hosts its fourth annual Community Incentives and Grant Programme (CIGP) at Hotel Versalles, Longbridge, Clarendon, today.

The CIGP is a composite of rewards and recognition for community groups and other stakeholders who have contributed significantly to the process of community development.

Clarendon parish manager Baldvin McKenzie told CENTRAL STAR that the awards are meant to encourage community groups and volunteers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in giving of their time and talent to the community they serve.

He said the CIPG is the single programme that organises the framework for the distribution of all incentives and grants from the various core actions of the SDC.

"The programme seeks to bolster community participation in development activities through rewards and incentives. The central objective is to create a platform for community groups and stakeholders to be given incentives and grants," McKenzie said.

Award categories include Use of Data Champion, Best Community Spirit, and Self-Reliance. Some special awards will also be given, including Long and Dedicated Service to the Parish and the Most Impactful Business Fairs 2018.
