Soldier hurt in JDF helicopter crash

A Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) pilot was injured after the helicopter he was flying crashed in St Catherine on Monday morning.

Major Basil Jarrett, the JDF's civil military co-operation and media affairs officer, said the helicopter came down in the area of Dunbeholden, which runs between Portmore and Spanish Town.

The crash, which involved an 11-year-old aircraft, a Bell 206, took place approximately 10:40. The accident occurred during a training exercise.

Investigators have cordoned off the crash site as they search for clues that could aid their probe.

Meanwhile, the pilot, who was said to be involved in a training exercise, is said to be in stable condition in hospital.
