Wanted man dies after jumping through window

A man who was wanted by the St Elizabeth police for rape died from injures he sustained after he jumped from a window in order to elude police officers last Saturday.

It is not clear how long he has been on the run, but according to police reports, 32-year-old Leroy Reid, who is a farmer from Providence district in St Elizabeth, ran when he saw the lawmen approaching. It is said that Reid then jumped from a window and landed in the gorge.

The New Market police said that the incident happened around 12:40 p.m. According to one officer, the gorge was really deep, and Reid also sustained cuts and bruises to his body.

Reid was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
