St Catherine police probe attempt to register baby

February 05, 2019

The St Catherine South Police have launched an investigation into the attempt by a woman to register a baby at the Registrar General's Department.

Information reaching The STAR is that a woman is being questioned by cops.

Senior Superintendent Clive Blair, the head of the St Catherine South Police, confirmed that a probe was launched but declined to give details.

Asked if the matter is related to the newborn who went missing from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital last month, Blair declined to comment.

Under government policy, if a child was born at the hospital, a officer registers the baby at bedside.  If a child was born outside of a hospital, it is the responsibility of the parents to register the birth.
